Tavrida Electric Strikes Gold In RSA

Tavrida Electric has completed a retrofit project for Sybanye Gold Ltd, the largest individual producer of gold from South Africa and one of 10 largest gold producers globally.

Tavrida Electric engineers were challenged with replacing out-dated oil circuit breakers on D4X (high silhouette) with more modern vacuum technology. The retrofit was complicated by outmoded and unsuitable pole distances and vertical link-up requirements.

Tavrida Electric devised an innovative solution that included developing and using a hoist mechanism to complete the retrofit. Engineers were also able to adapt the pole distances from 150 mm to 133 mm

The whole project – including manufacturing and shipping – was completed quickly and to budget; a great start to working with our new RSA partner.
